| Overview : The UN in Uganda is a Delivering as One (DaO) Self-starter as per the Government’s request in 2010. The UN proposes to advance the five Ones – One Programme, One Leader, Operating as One, One Common Budgetary framework and Communicating as One. The UN is indeed advancing towards building coherence, increasing effectiveness, relevance and sustainability and contributing to key national outcomes
With the “Operating as One” the UN hopes to improve coherence and efficiency further through the establishment of a One House. This would help the UN in Uganda to reach a full DaO mode.
UN agencies in Uganda are currently located in different parts of Kampala due to inability to find the office facility that can accommodate all UN agencies. With the increased levels of terrorism and other security related incidents in Uganda, it would furthermore be important that UN agencies find a facility that can be easily secured; this would be easier if UN agencies are located in the same building.
The government of Uganda has already given the UN land to construct the UN house. UNCT has recommended that the office recruits a UN House Project Manager to facilitate and coordinate the planning, design and construction of a One UN House on the plot donated by the Government of Uganda for that purpose.
Functions /Key Results Expected
The UN House Project Manager will work under the direct supervision of the Resident Coordinator, work closely with the Operations Management Team (OMT)/UN House Taskforce, work with reference to the UNDP TTCP Transaction Model and report regularly to the UNCT when carrying out the tasks.
