The vision of the Ministry of Local Government is “To have a democratic, participatory, decentralized local government system that can sustain development and deliver services efficiently and effectively to the people”. As such, the Ministry is responsible for the guidance, inspection, monitoring and coordination of Local Governments to ensure compliance with the provisions of Local Governments Act 1997 Cap 243 and any other laws. To this end, the United Nations Development Programme is supporting the Ministry to prepare a communication strategy to effectively perform her responsibility in promoting decentralized service delivery through the decentralization process.
