The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) Botswana and Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) intend to develop the Botswana Decentralisation Policy within the framework of the CLGF Regional Programme 2012-2016. The mandate of MLGRD is to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of local authorities in Botswana through providing policy direction, administrative support services, financial resources, capacity building and supervision. As part of this mandate, the Ministry has embarked on a process to facilitate the development of a national Decentralisation Policy for Botswana. CLGF is a membership organisation whose main objective is to promote and strengthen effective democratic local government and to facilitate the exchange of good practice in local government structures and services throughout the Commonwealth. CLGF is currently implementing a Southern Africa Regional Programme which seeks to enhance service delivery to achieve poverty reduction against the MDGs and the post MDGs development Framework. It is under this programme that CLGF is partnering with the MLGRD to develop the Botswana Decentralisation Policy. Through this partnership, CLGF as the partner responsible for procurement seeks to engage a team to support the development of the policy. |
