A review of various options for increasing women's access to finance to provide evidenced-based recommendations for programming
Overview :

Women’s economic empowerment is a priority area for the Government of Zimbabwe as stated in many of the key economic policy frameworks, which call for gender equity in access to resources and economic opportunities. The Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation’s specific key outputs include increasing women’s access to micro credit and funding women’s groups under the Women’s Development Fund. The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) is the UN organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, distinguishes the need for women’s access to finance especially given the current macroeconomic environment of Zimbabwe. Of concern is that despite their potential, most women are restricted by credit constraints which impacts negatively on their possibilities to grow their businesses.
