Overview : The Funding Facility for Immediate Stabilization Project (FFIS) has assessed the priority needs in areas recently liberated from ISIL in the governorate of Ninewah in Iraq. The availability of functioning schools is a determining factor for parents, especially mothers, when they are deciding whether or not to return to their areas of origin from displacement. There is a need to ensure that there is equality between Kurdish and Arabic speaking schools to ensure that children of all ethnic groups can be served. In order to promote social cohesion and reconciliation UNDP has worked with the governor’s office to ensure equitable delivery with an aim to ensure that each child has a place in school. |
