Overview :

UNDP Ethiopia kindly invited qualified individuals to work as consultnat to develop guideline on mainstreaming DRM into Education sector.

The Overall objective of this assignment is to develop guideline on mainstreaming DRM into Education Sector, thereby creating a culture of effective preparedness in various educational institutions including preparing the schools for effective disaster response, preparedness and long term mitigation measures. This will also enable the Education Sector bureau to emphasize on effective policies, plans and programmes to support to effective and timely addressing to the critical mass and saving the lives of the children.

Academic Qualifications:

  • The candidate should have also aadvanced degree (Masters or equivalent) in disaster risk management, development studies, Rural Development;

Years of experience:

  • The candidate should have experience of working on Disaster Risk Management/resilience building aspects with adequate knowledge of the global DRM agenda, policies and programmes.
  • Proven experience in conducting assessment, large scale time series data analysis, and/or evaluation on DRM, agriculture, livestock, Food security and/or related fields.
  • At least 7 years of  progressive work experience in research, analysis, programme management/evaluation in areas related to Disaster Risk Management, Climate Change, Food Security, and Livelihoods Recovery;
  • A proven successful record of consulting/publishing experience in technical policy-focused research on DRM and Climate Change related topics;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the UN system and past work experience with the UN or UNDP in particular, would be an advantage;
  • Experience of working in multi-cultural environment
