Overview :

UNDP is an Implementing Agency operating under the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol (MLF). UNDP is also an Implementing Agency of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) for the Chemicals and Wastes Focal Area. UNDP’s Montreal Protocol Unit and Chemical (MPU/Chemicals) works with public and private partners in developing countries to assist them in meeting the targets of the Montreal Protocol (MP) on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (ODS), and the Stockholm and Minamata Conventions in the reduction and elimination of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and Mercury, respectively. With regards to its Montreal Protocol and Global Environment Facility programmes, MPU/Chemicals focuses on assisting countries in phasing-out HCFCs and in reducing or eliminating POPs and Mercury emissions with funding support from MLF and the GEF respectively.

MPU/Chemicals Asia-Pacific Region Team is located in Asia Pacific Regional Center (APRC) in Bangkok and provides support to countries in the region, including Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Timor Leste.

The team is seeking an expert who will work with UNDP under the direct supervision of the Montreal Protocol Unit/Chemicals (MPU) Programme Coordinator in the Asia-Pacific region and through her to the Director of MPU/Chemicals.To fufill tasks identifiedin the Terms of reference.
