Overview : The UNDP and Global Environment Facility’s (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP) in partnership with the Maloti Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site (MDP WHS) and UNESCO, requires individual consultants with expertise in landscape management, community and stakeholder participatory processes, experience with community-led initiatives as well as knowledge and experience of working in and around the MDP WHS. The consultant will undertake a baseline assessment of the MDP WHS, develop a conceptual framework/model and a COMPACT Site Strategy, for establishment of the COMPACT project in Heritage Site. The objective of COMPACT is to demonstrate how community-based initiatives can significantly increase the effectiveness of biodiversity conservation in World Heritage Sites while also helping to improve local community livelihoods. The COMPACT approach has been successfully piloted in eight world heritage sites and is now being replicated in the MDP WHS. The Assignment is expected to be carried out in 30 working days, from May 2017 to June 2017. Education: A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Management or related field with at least 5 years of relevant working experience. |
