The Government of Ethiopia has a stated interest in strengthening the contribution of the forest sector to achieving economic growth and to ensure the social and environmental sustainability of this growth. With 17.2 million hectares of forests covering 15.5% of the national territory and a large expanse of degraded lands suitable for forest restoration, Ethiopia has a huge potential for developing the forest sector to contribute to its sustainable growth.
