Overview : United Nations Development Programme has partnered with the Governments of Sint-Maarten and the Netherlands to support Sint Maarten’s short-term recovery efforts following the devastating effects of Hurricane Irma on September 06, 2017. UNDP is looking for contractors to implement a clean-up programme focusing on hurricane debris. Approach: Clean-up in identified sites where un-skilled workers from the surrounding areas are hired to perform clean-up under contractor supervision. Contractor pays these workers, UNDP covers the cost of paying these workers. Selected bidders will be allocated sites identified by the Ministry of Public Housing, Environment, Spatial Development and Infrastructure (Ministry VROMI). The number of days and workers per site to be determined depending on realities at site. Bidders will be selected on past experiences, management ability, and resources. NOTE: Contractor is obligated to use workers that reside in the areas of contractual cleaning. This is one of the early recovery projects financed from the Dutch Recovery Fund for Sint Maarten, under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. €7 million has been made available during the early recovery phase for projects that will have a direct impact on the population of Sint Maarten. |
