| Overview : The National AIDS Commission is the multi-sectoral mechanism mandated by the Cabinet to coordinate the implementation of the National Strategic Plan for HIV & TB Response in Belize. In 2011, the National AIDS Commission engaged in the process of developing its 2012-2016 National Strategic Plan with technical support from USAID/PASCA and UNAIDS. The Country Progress Report 2012 described this strategic planning exercise as one of the most significant achievements in 2010-2011. The development of the Strategic Plan for 2012-2016 was hailed as a success, because it was evidenced-based, consultative and participatory with increased participation from key affected and vulnerable populations and particular focus in the areas of human rights, monitoring and evaluation and the sustainability of the Response. In line with the UNAIDS 90-90-90 targets to end HIV/AIDS by 2030, recent strategic information and data, the COMISCA Joint Approach to HIV and the goals of the previous Concept Note submitted to the Global Fund, the National AIDS Commission will engage in a mid-term review of its existing NSP 2016-2020 with the objective of identifying gaps and opportunities for updating information, redefining targets and objectives, identifying innovative strategies to harmonize the strategic objectives with the present national and global situation and priorities. The Ministry of Health’s NTP and HIV programmes evaluation aims to similarly redefine or update strategic targets and objectives, identify gaps and opportunities for further development and avenues for sustainability planning |
