Overview :

In 2009, UNDP launched the Green Commodities Programme (GCP) to improve the economic, social and environmental performance of agricultural and marine commodity sectors, pioneering the concept of National Commodity Platforms to help governments facilitate shared visions and actions for sustainable commodity production among key stakeholders.

In 2017, the GCP started leading the implementation of the GEF-funded Good Growth Partnership (GGP), advancing an integrated “supply chain” approach to tackling the underlying root causes of deforestation from beef, oil palm, and soy, which together account for nearly 70% of deforestation globally.  To reduce or take deforestation out of these commodity supply chains, production must come from areas that do not contribute to further clearance of natural forests.
