UN-Women Cameroon is in the process of identifying potential Responsible Parties for the implementation of its 2018 – 2020 Strategic Note (SN) which has been extended to the year 2021.   

  1.  Introduction
  2. Background/Context for required services/results

The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Women Empowerment (UN Women) has been created to accelerate progress in meeting Women needs around the world.

UN Women supports Member States in adopting international standards to achieve gender equality and works with governments and civil society to design laws, policies, programs and services needed to ensure the effective application of these standards and that women and girls benefit from it everywhere. The Agency works globally to make the ambition of the Sustainable Development Goals a reality for women and girls and to support the equitable participation of women in all aspects of life. Its  intervention focus on five priority areas:

  1. Strengthen women's leadership and participation;
  2. End violence against women;
  3. Women Peace and Security and Humanitarian action;
  4. Strengthen women’ economic empowerment ;
  5.  Frontier issues
  6. Gender coordination in development and humanitarian contexts

UNWOMEN 'programmatic approach is based on its Strategic Note, written on a multi-year basis. It constitutes the frame of reference for its interventions over a specific period in a given country. Extended over a period of one year  (i.e. the whole of 2021), the Cameroon Country Office's 2018 - 2020 Strategic Note identifies six key priority areas listed above.

This Strategic Note is operationalized through annual work plans based on national priorities and the availability of resources. This operationalization is carried out jointly by the country office and the Responsible Parties (RP).

UNWOMEN Cameroon is now launching a call for expressions of interest for the selection of partners such as Civil Society Organizations (NGOs, Associations, etc.), and Community-Based Organizations in order to establish a map of potential partners by thematic areas to support the Country Office in the implementation of its 2021 Work Plan.

For 2021 This Call for Expressions of Interest aims to establish a mapping of partners on the areas of intervention identified in the Annual Work Plan (AWP), as detailed in the table below:

  1.  Timeframe:  Start date and end date for completion of required services/results

   Mars - December 2021

  1.  Competencies:
    • Strong Technical/functional and administrative and financial competencies required;
    • Well-structured and officially established organization
    • Excellent organizational and planning skills
    •  Knowledge of participatory approaches
    • High standards of integrity
  2. Other competencies, which while not required, can be an asset for the performance of services
    • Results-oriented;
    • Coordination and planning;
    •  Building Effective Relationships;
    •  Understanding of capacity development approaches

Those interested in participating in the process should forward their expression of interest electronically to UN-WOMEN (joyce.neba@unwomen.org) by 20/February/2021 enclosing the information listed below.

  • Full legal name and address of applying institution
  • Copy of valid legal registration in the country
  • Mandate or mission statement of organization
  • Statement of organization’s expertise in the relevant area
  • Description of the organization’s existing operations in the subject matter area, including how long the operations have been carried out./

Upon receipt of the above information from prospective Responsible Parties, UN-Women will review applicants for placement on a short-list of potential Responsible Parties. During the implementation of the programme cycle, UN-Women

Those short-listed candidates may be invited to submit formal proposals using the standard UN-Women Call for Proposal template to become a Responsible Party. The Call for Proposal will provide a more detailed description of the scope of work.
