| Introduction :
The UNDP under a fund from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) is implementing in partnership with the Ministry of Environment (MoEnv.) a project targeting the “Reduction and elimination of POPs and other chemical releases through implementation of environmentally sound management of E-Waste, healthcare waste and priority U-POPs release sources associated with general waste management activities” under which one of the three main components is “Developing waste diversion/resource recovery capacity for GHG and U-POPs reduction/Effective waste diversion/resource recovery capacity from HW and SW streams developed with associated GHG and U-POPs release reduction achieved” (component 3). The services to be provided shall be undertaken in two stages: review UNDP’s proposed collection areas and suggest other additional areas in case of the original proposed areas would not provide sufficient quantities and make assessment of current situation at the selected final location(s)/basin/area(s) in addition to the relevant regulations, then plan the sorting schemes and identify the key, in addition to identifying and designing the financial mechanism for securing the materials (output 1). The second will be the planning and implementation of the sorting and collection scheme and provision of transporting the collected materials to the UNDP assigned location/entity (output 2 &3). The provided services shall be implemented in accordance with the following order of priority; this ToR in addition to the national regulations, UNDP Social and Environmental Guidelines, and any other international best practices if approved by the UNDP, leading to the sustainable prevention of open burning through minimization and segregation, in pilot waste basin and pilot MSW landfill.
