Introduction

Background

In 2019 UNDP launched the world’s largest learning network around development challenges to re-imagine development for the 21st century. At the heart of this network is a cohort of 90 Accelerator Labs serving 115 countries. These labs bring new expertise, tools and methods that generate new insights and knowledge to close the widening gap between the current practices of international development and accelerating complex development challenges.

The accelerator lab in Uganda is participating together with other 14 labs globally to use collective intelligence design methods to test and explore interventions that could contribute to the current climate crisis. Collective Intelligence is when people work together with the help of technology to share ideas and gather data at a much greater scale. By bringing together diverse groups of people, data and technology, Collective Intelligence has the power to achieve things by far beyond what individual human or machine could achieve alone. The Uganda Country Office is applying this methodology to design community led interventions on floods and waste management in Kampala capital city specifically in Makerere Kavule.

It is against this background that UNDP would like to engage a qualified firm to provide Consultancy services to co-design with the community sustainable waste management solutions in Kiggundu and Sebina zones of Makerere Kavule - Kampala.
