Duty station: Primarily based at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC), Putrajaya with the possibility of posting in various zones in Peninsular Malaysia.
Description of the Assignment: This position holds a diverse range of responsibilities critical to supporting the implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework Early Action Support (GBF-EAS) and the 7th National Reporting project in Malaysia, conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change (NRECC). It plays a pivotal role in advancing Malaysia's commitments to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) by facilitating collaboration among government levels, including federal, state, and local authorities. The responsibilities include gathering and analyzing project data, tracking progress, and conducting baseline studies for the National Policy on Biological Diversity (NPBD).
In addition to project coordination, the role extends to providing technical services, including the development of guidance documents, reports, and knowledge management products aligned with project objectives. It also involves offering advisory support to state governments on biodiversity management and contributing to Malaysia's 7th National Report to the CBD. Capacity building is another significant aspect, with responsibilities encompassing the creation of training materials and the management of the Learning for Nature platform.
Effective communication and outreach are vital components, involving content creation for the NBSAP Forum, support for events, and the translation of materials when needed. Lastly, the position contributes to documenting project best practices and lessons learned. In summary, this role is integral to advancing biodiversity conservation and management efforts in Malaysia through project coordination, technical expertise, capacity building, and communication strategies.
Period of assignment/services: 216 working days in 12 months period
