Introduction :

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is organizing an UN Youth Volunteer Workshop for UN Volunteers, in Istanbul, Türkiye from 24-27 October 2023.

 

UNV is the UN organization that promotes volunteerism to support peace and development worldwide. Volunteerism can transform the pace and nature of development and it benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer. UNV contributes to peace and development by advocating for volunteerism globally, encouraging partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming and mobilizing volunteers.

 

The UN Youth Volunteer Workshop is essential in equipping UN Volunteers with the necessary skills that would enhance their contribution to the United Nations and the contribution of the assignment to their personal and professional development. A venue with specifications as per this document is needed in the following dates and times.

 

24th October  2023, start 08:00 AM– 18:00 PM, 60 participants

25th October 2023, start 08:00 AM– 18:00 PM,  60 participants

26th October 2023, start 08:00 AM– 18:00 PM, 60 participants

27th October 2023, start 08:00 AM– 18:00 PM, 60 participants

 

 

The venue should be of at least a 3-star standard, in central Istanbul, easily accessible by public transport and allowing for the drop-off and parking area. The venue must have the following characteristics:

 

a)       1 main room to accommodate approximately 60 participants for the general sessions and 2 breakout rooms for approximately 25-30 participants. All rooms desirably have access to natural light.  

 

b)      Easy access to the venue’s in-house facilities or an adjacent room for lunch and suitable area for coffee breaks in the immediate vicinity of the conference facility.

 

c)       For all days, a lunch buffet to cater for 70 people. It should include soft drinks and the choice of food should cater for all needs (meat, fish, vegetarian) with both European and Turkish cuisines. Flexible timing when required.

 

d)      For all days, 2 coffee breaks daily, for 70 people. Provision of coffee, tea, water with suitable snacks (cookies, fruit baskets) outside of the conference room/facility. Flexible timing when required.

 

e)      1 dinner in the evening of 24th of October. Dinner should be able to cater up to 80 people. It should include soft drinks and the choice of food should cater for all needs (meat, fish, vegetarian) with both European and Turkish cuisines. Flexible timing when required.

 

f)        Pre-printed materials and printer should be available to print low volume of documents.

 

g)       Stationary items are needed and are provided in the list below.

Approximately 60 participants:

 

 

Equipment:

-          1 projector and and 1 screen for presentations.

 

-          1 sound system.

 

-          5 microphones total for main and breakout rooms.

 

-          1 laptop.

 

-          1 pointer.

 

-          6 flipcharts.

 

-          Pre-printed documents that will be ready by latest 23 October 2023 (approximately 800 pages to be printed, mixture of colored and black and white documents). Detailed specifications will be provided.

 1 printer to be used if needed.
