Introduction

The "Building Resilience to Cope with Climate Change in Jordan through improving water use efficiency in the agriculture sector (BRCCJ)" project aims to address the challenges posed by water scarcity, rapid population growth, and climate change impacts in Jordan. UNDP Jordan's programmatic pillars include Environment, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), working towards sustainable development through advocacy, coordination, and program implementation. This project aligns with national strategies, such as the National Climate Change Policy (CCP) for 2022-2050 and the Natural Disaster Risk Reduction National Strategy 2023-2030.

The primary objectives of this consultancy are to conduct a comprehensive Water Diagnostic Assessment and a Climate Risk Assessment for the governorates of Ma'an, Madaba, Karak, and Tafila (Figure 1). The assessments will provide essential insights into improving water use efficiency, projections of water availability and building resilience against climate-related hazards. This will bring benefits at policy, planning and decision-making process in the project area.
