Description of the Assignment:  UNDP’s Country Programme Document for Bangladesh (2022-2026) emphasizes strengthening commercial justice promoting business and human rights, and improving access to justice for women through digitalization to ensure the sustainable LDC graduation and maintain positive micro- and macro-economic trajectory and to achieve the Digital Bangladesh vision reflected to 2030 agenda (Goal 16 and 17). To this end, UNDP has been supporting key justice agencies in digitalizing the system with a focus on the digital filing of commercial cases in the Supreme Court and building its capacity to address the timely justice and enforcement of commercial contracts. Moreover, to ensure sector-wide coordination in commercial justice, UNDP has worked on strengthening legislative and policy advocacy, promoting alternative dispute resolution in commercial disputes, advocating the establishment of commercial courts, and addressing gaps and challenges in ensuring timely, equitable, and SMART justice system for women and will continue to provide technical support to the concerned stakeholders. Through this scope of work, concept documents are being developed by recognizing government ownership and mapping the resource mobilization opportunities in the area of SMART Justice Service in Bangladesh.

 

Period of assignment/services: 40 working days over 4 months
