Description of the Assignment:  


Scope of Work

 

The individual contractor will act as the National Coordinator for the SDGs Hub and will play a catalytic role in the establishment and operation of the SDGs Hub. She or he will be involved in the development of  SDGs Hub Strategy and kick start first activities.

 

Planning, Implementation and Monitoring

§  Arrange and facilitate consultations with partners and stakeholders for the establishment of the SDGs Hub and Lab and the identification of projects

§  Leads the establishment of the SDG Hub, including providing technical and coordination support to enhance quality and synergy.

§  Coordinate activities of the SDG Hub in line with UNDP and UoB’s policies and guidelines

§  Coordinates the collaboration with the SDGs Hub’s implementing partners, in terms of the Hubs programme and deliverables

§  Takes the lead to develop, implement and evaluate assigned Hub programmes, directs review of relevant documents and reports; identifies priorities, problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and initiates follow-up actions.

§  Responsible for completing and submitting THE Impact application (THE Impact Rankings)

§  Prepare progress reports on the Hub activities with linkages to the SDGs to be submitted to UNDP and UOB.

§  Develop the Hub’s Work Plan.

§  Ensures activities are planned and plans are implemented in time with expected quality.

§  Ensures implementation of gender mainstreaming guidelines by assessing the implications for men and women of any planned action, including legislation, policies or programmes, in all areas and at all levels.

§  Coordinates policy development; reviews the assessments of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or research activities and studies.

§  Prepare required written outputs, e.g. background papers, analysis, presentations, etc.

§  Directs substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, and preparation of documents and presentations.

§  Particiapte in conferences, seminars and workshops to present the SDG Hub work and activities.

Outreach and Partnerships Building

§  Management of SDGs Hub partnerships with national entities and partners and propose potential regional and international partnerships and collaborations.

§  Support both institutions’ sharing of knowledge and expertise and dissemination of best practices and lessons learned.

§  Builds strategic partnerships and resource mobilization, inclusive of the development of Public-Private sector and Philanthropies Partnership initiatives focusing on all 17 SDGs.

§  Manages outreach activities; press release (pre and post events), designs and conducts training workshops, seminars, etc., makes presentations on assigned topics/activities.

§  Develop a Communication, Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships Strategy  - see deliverables

§  Aim at onboarding minimum 10 members through a Hub Membership Corporate scheme

 

Stakeholders and Partners Funding framework

 

The consultant is tasked with developing an onboarding process for stakeholders and partners that includes the option of annual membership contributions as a form of financial support for the SDGs Hub's activities. These are the items to be completed:

 

§  Stakeholders Mapping: Report on mapping of stakeholders and partners (e.g. private sector entities, philanthropies)  for projects formulation and funding.

§  Framework Development: Design a comprehensive framework for funding acquisition, including processes for application, review, allocation, and management of funds in consultations with  the Implementing Partner.

§  Membership program: Establish a structured annual membership program including fees structure with defined benefits and responsibilities for members. Also, the consultant should  establish the benefits or value proposition for potential members, highlighting the benefits of membership, such as access to research, networking opportunities, and visibility within the SDGs Hub/lab initiatives.

§  One-Time or other Contribution Process: Establish a process for accepting one-time contributions from companies, philanthropies and individuals, including the recognition and potential benefits for contributors.

§  Payment Process: Develop a streamlined process for the collection of membership fees, including agreements and templates, invoicing, payment methods, and tracking of contributions.

§  Fundraising: Design and execute a targeted fundraising campaign to secure financial commitments from various  identified partners.

 

Identification, Development, and Implementation of Two Collaborative Projects

 

The consultant is to identify, develop, and implement two projects within the SDGs Hub and Lab that stem from real-world problems provided by partner organizations. These projects must align with targeted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and be approved by the project's steering committee before implementation. The main tasks include:

 

§  Engagement with Partner Organizations: Establish communication channels and work closely with partner organizations to solicit project ideas that address their real-world challenges relevant to the SDGs.

§  Project Approval: Present project concepts to the steering committee for review and obtain formal approval before proceeding to the development phase.

§  Team Assembly: Build multidisciplinary project teams comprising college staff, students, and members from partner organizations, when appropriate.

 

Knowledge Sharing

§  Helps in the identification of lessons learned to help achieve the outcomes of the Hub.

§  Facilitates the use of global knowledge networks to share knowledge including\ publications, conference proceedings, etc.

§  Participates and/ or contributes to the discussions on substantive and operational aspects concerning the Hub in the relevant meetings and/ or forums.

 

Period of assignment/services: 7 Months
