Description of the Assignment:  Communication Expert

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is currently implementing a Management Project that requires the services of an individual to perform the work described in TERMS OF REFERENCES.

This consultancy required is to provide communications support to immediately help the office formulate and disseminate more and better information on the corporate brand, its work in the country and respective results, contributing to foster partnership and resources mobilization. Under the guidance of the Resident Representative and Deputy Resident Representative and direct supervision of the Economics Adviser, the Communications Consultant will develop UNDP-CO’s communication strategy, plan, and communication products to promote UNDP’s work in  South Africa. The Communications Consultant will work closely with all UNDP Units and projects, the UNDP Communications Analyst, as well as in consultation with Government officials, media, donors and civil society organizations.

Expected Key Deliveries

1. Develop and implement a strategy for external communications and outreach

2.Develop communication products and maintain communication vehicles, including the update of the UNDP Country Office website and other communications vehicles, including social media;

3. Initiate partnerships between the UNDP Country Office and the media, as well as other relevant partners

4. Supports efforts in the South Africa Human Development Report (SANDHR) 2022 communication/advocacy and raise awareness among a wide spectrum of the populations and stakeholders

5.Perform any other tasks as asked by senior management/supervisor
