Introduction :

Country:

Description of the Assignment:

Local Government Initiative on Climate Change (LoGIC) project has been supporting the government of Bangladesh to address climate change impacts leading to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The impact of climate change is evident in some ecosystems mostly in the coast (Patuakhali, Bhola, Barguna, Bagerhat and Khulna), north (Kurigram and Sunamganj) and CHT (Rangamati and Bandarban) region where LoGIC is being implemented. These areas are highly exposed to climatic hazards like cyclone, tidal surge, salinity, riverbank erosion, flood, landslides and flash flood. The efforts of Local Government Division supported by EU, Sweden, Denmark, UNDP and UNCDF in Bangladesh are creating results gradually under several adaptation projects like LoGIC.

The main objective of the study is to update the Climate Vulnerability Index (CVI) data and mapping up to the LGI level (Union, Upazila, Municipality, City Corporation) as well as prepare spatial dashboard for a quick understanding of CVI patterns in different administrative units in Bangladesh.

The specific objectives of the study are:

(a)         Investigate the missing information regarding spatial and attribute data for Union, Upazila and Municipality for all over the country.

(b)        Collect the relevant missing data and incorporate it with the recently developed CVI for updating the CVI data.

(c)         Analyze CVI following the updated exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity up to the LGI level.

(d)        Prepare maps for CVI to figure out areas with different vulnerability zones with updated data and

(e)        Prepare a dynamic dashboard with license version of ArcGIS Pro and a web page to visualize the CVI data and maps in different LGIs.
