Introduction :

Scope of Work

 Under the supervision of the Director of the Sustainable Energy Hub, the Specialist will be responsible for the following activities:

1.      Sustainable Energy Bulletin

o   Lead on the drafting, editing and design of the Sustainable Energy Hub bulletin.

o   Develop several special edition bulletins aligned with key thematics.

o   Each bulletin is accompanied by a social media campaign of videos and written content. Ensure effective outreach of bulletins through social media engagement by coordinating with and supporting the social media team. 

2.      Communications, Writing and Copyediting 

o   Support the preparation of the team reporting including the Sustainable Energy Hub Annual Report through drafting and editing.

o   Revise draft content based on editorial feedback from the Sustainable Energy Hub leadership team, communications team, and UNDP's Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy (BERA).

o   Edit text products to meet standards for publication on the UNDP website and external placements. 

3.      Policy Development, Knowledge Management and Learning

o   Conduct in-depth research on key sustainable energy topics.

o   Write comprehensive policy papers to contribute valuable insights and perspectives to the field.

o   Develop content for knowledge products through the analysis of data, case evidence, and research findings in accordance with UNDP standards.

o   Support the team in advancing research, testing and roll-out of policy, toolkits and framework initiatives.

o   Contribute to thought leadership, knowledge management and learning activities in relevant thematic areas, including knowledge extraction, analysis, and documentation. 

4.      Sustainable Transport Framework

o   Create a comprehensive stocktaking of UNDP's current sustainable transport portfolio. 

o   Identify entry points for policy support and innovative programming in sustainable transport. 

o   Develop a framework structured around UNDP's signature solutions, directions of change, and enablers for scaling up development impact.  

5.      Youth Engagement

o   Design and develop initiatives to engage youth energy champions to promote Energy for Development.

o   Seek input from youth energy champions as to the areas of support that can be provided to further their work.

o   Develop strategies and plans for strengthening the capacity of youth on sustainable energy.

Period of assignment/services: up to 260 working days over the course of 12 months
