Introduction : SCOPE OF TENDER

UNDP Istanbul Regional Hub is implementing EU funded project: “European Union for Improving Environmental Monitoring in the Black Sea (EU4EMBLAS). The project activities include also collection of new data sets, covering new monitoring parameters with use of innovative techniques for identification of chemical contaminants, such as wide-scope screening (target) or suspect screening (non-target).

In the frame of the project activities a transport of an Oceanographic Research Vessel Belgica from Belgium (Zeebrugge) to Ukraine (Odessa) has been organized (the vessel is a gift of Belgium to Ukraine). The journey of the RV Belgica has been used for a unique scientific survey of the North-East Atlantic, Mediterranean and Black Seas “Cruise of Three European Seas”, with participation of international team of experts. During the survey samples of water and sediments were collected, to be later analysed for content of pollutants by a specialised environmental company / laboratory, with use the state-of-the-art analytical methodologies (used in EMBLAS and EUWI+ projects).

The following tasks need to be carried out:

1. Analysis of 23 samples (17 water and 6 sediment) for the content of organic pollutants – with use of the wide-scope target screening >2,400 pollutants, suspect screening >95,000 pollutants in EU laboratories;

2. Providing the results of analyses with metadata in the format of Data Collection Templates compatible with Information Platform for Chemical Monitoring of the European Commission (IPCHEM) and the NORMAN Database System(http://www.norman-network.com/nds/empodat/downloadDCT.php; https://www.norman-network.com/nds/susdat);
