Description of the Assignment:  National Consultant to Facilitate Wildlife Crime Capacity Building/Sensitisation for Nigerian Judicial Authorities


Purpose of the assignment: The purpose of the assignment is to develop workshop materials and deliver a tailor-made wildlife crime judicial sensitisation roundtable for Batch 3 (South-East and South-South Zones) for Judges in Nigeria.  

The development of the training materials  will be conducted through desk reviews and consultations with national counterparts and UNODC experts. The workshop will be delivered in Lagos, Nigeria from 24 to 26 April 2024. 


Specific tasks to be performed by the consultant


Under the direct supervision of the UNODC CONIG Wildlife Team Lead and the GPCAE’s Africa Programme Coordinator, the consultant will be responsible for following deliverables:  

 1. Review the already developed course materials which aims to bring to the awareness of the judicial authorities the key issues as it pertains to wildlife and environmental exploitation cases, Nigeria’s role in the wildlife trafficking value chain; and outline best practices used in the adjudication of wildlife and environmental exploitation cases used throughout the world and to adopt to the applicable Nigerian laws and regulations and update as required.

2. Deliver the sensitisation workshop for Judicial Authorities in the South-East and South-South Zones from 24 to 26 April 2024

3. Submit a final report based on a UNODC template.


Period of assignment/services: 15 April to 3 May 2024 (12 working days)
