Introduction
LABOUR MARKET NEEDS ANALYSIS IN BAIDOA AND
SOUTH-WEST STATE OF SOMALIA.
The labour market needs analysis will mainly focus on Baidoa and its surroundings and, will build on any recent analyses and actions in meeting skills needs. The Bidder will identify skills shortages in the Baidoa economy which should not only include the urban economy, but also, industries and sectors which link to the surrounding rural economy. This analysis should embrace both the formal and informal economy and, qualifications required to meet skills shortages should be identified and estimates made of number of posts to be filled by the sector in the next five years.
Based on primary data from a representative sample of employers in the formal sector and, as appropriate, from informal enterprises, activities will include but shall not be limited to the following:
(i) Review demand for labour in Baidoa and surrounding areas, identifying areas of economy and sectors where labour demand is increasing.
(ii) Identify skills in shortage and outline how firms and other organisations are responding in meeting these needs.
(iii) Specify areas where training and education could help fill these needs.
