Introduction
The goal of this study is to generate evidence for catalysing sustainable development and economic transformation, by promoting access, use and investment for inclusive and sustainable energy in Sierra Leone, and informing policy and programme interventions for closing existing gender gaps in the energy sector.
The specific objectives are:
· Assess the energy mix matrix for Sierra Leone to determine disparities in energy access, use, and investments between women and men at the business and household level
· Determine the policy and institutional barriers, constraints and challenges for promoting access to affordable and sustainable energy for productive use among women in the country
· Determine required investments and capacities for promoting women’s empowerment, participation and leadership in energy access, and transition and divesting from fossil fuel sources
· Map the public, private sector, civil society organizations (CSOs), and donor stakeholders in the energy sector and determine options for mobilizing financing resources and investments in Sierra Leone.
· Complement available data to help monitor progress achieved towards universal access to sustainable energy and energy transmission for Sierra Leone and achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals
