Introduction :

Introduction

UNCDF, in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has launched a program in Ethiopia to support inclusive digital financial services in general with a focus on CICO/Agent networks to improve access points for financial services to improve industry operational standards while sharing lessons from other countries.

UCNDF conducted a boot camp training for various service providers in the country on the use and business case of agent networks in late 2023 to support the establishment of a robust financial services access point that is sustainable and scalable for both the service providers and the last mile users, the clients and agents. Based on the boot camp training provided, financial service providers are at different levels in terms of last mile service delivery and deployment strategies. To address this, UCNDF will support the development of go to market strategy for 10 selected Financial Service Providers (banks, MFIs, master agents and others involved in the management of the agent network).

The go-to-market strategy to be developed by the vendor will support the expansion of the CICO network and expand existing partnerships to improve reach and quality while impacting the digital ecosystem for a resilient economy. Furthermore, the vendor will provide on-the-ground implementation advisory, guidance and execution support to a maximum of three institutions to be selected by the program (based on criteria to be developed during the service delivery phase in collaboration with UCNDF project team members).
