Supply and Installation including all plumbing works of 20K L water storage tank

Introduction

UNDP is inviting the Potentials Suppliers to submit their bid for Supply and Installation including all plumbing works of a 20 000 liters water storage tank as below Specifications
SPECIFICATION FOR THE 20,000 LITRES WATER STORAGE TANK
 Project: Supply and Installation including all plumbing works of a water storage tank. 
Capacity (Volume): 20,000 litres 
Material: Carbon Steel well treated for corrosion resistance. Metal Tank – Cylindrical. Thickness/ Gauge: Minimum 5mm thick sheet Diameter: ±2.0m 1.0 Site 
Location: 1.1 The location of the proposed tank is at the new warehouse premises and sited next/ adjacent to the existing water tank. 
2.0 Site Preparation:
2.1 Site preparation will include clearly marking out the designated area for construction of a 2.5m x 2.5m concrete base for the tank, neatly taking out the existing pavers and safely storing them away for reuse. 
2.2 Excavate the marked area to the depth of 600mm below the ground level at the lowest point. Level the base and prepare it by ramming to compact the soil. 
2.3 Import, pour, spread and compact suitable granular material to the depth of 150mm compacted layer as sub-base. 
2.4 Supply and pour on top of the sub-base C15 concrete as blinding to receive the concrete base. The depth of blinding to be 50mm. 
3.0 Formwork and Reinforcement: 
3.1 Provide and erect formwork to contain the concrete for the base in accordance with the dimension of the base of the tank – 2.5m x 2.5m. The depth of the base should be mini 600mm, with 400mm below ground level and 200mm above ground level at the lowest point. 
4.0 Reinforcement 
4.1 Supply and place and secure Y12 reinforcement bars both on the bottom and on top to make a cage within the formwork. The spacing of the reinforcement to be 200mm centre to centre in all directions. The scope to include all steel fixing works. 
4.2 Provide and fix the hold-down (anchor) bolts to support the tank as per engineer’s instructions. 
5.0 Concrete Pouring: 
5.1 Supply and pour minimum grade C25 concrete into the formwork to create the base for the water tank. 
5.2 Ensure the concrete is levelled and smoothed for a uniform finish for the tank base. 
5.3 Allow the concrete base to adequately cure for not less than 14 days before loading it. 
6.0 Installation of Metal Water Tank and Plumbing Works 
6.1 Supply and install 20,000 litres metal water tank on top of the base and secure it with the hold-down bolts.
6.2 Connect the tank to the plumbing system using appropriate fittings and pipes. 
6.3 Install and connect the inlet (supply) pipes for water from the EAGB water supply network. Scope to include all necessary gate valves and fitting to ensure proper functioning of the tank. 
6.4 The tank must be equipped with a ball float valve to close off the water supply when the tank is full. 
 6.5 Install outlet pipes to connect to the existing pipe network for the firefighting system. Scope to include but not limited to fitting all necessary gate valves, connectors and fittings to ensure proper functioning of the system. The scope to also include isolating the existing line for the fire-fighting system from the existing tank and blocking off the remaining part appropriately. 
 7.0 Testing 
7.1 Allow for testing the plumbing works for leaks and proper water flow. 
8.0 Finishing 
8.1 Properly backfill all around the concrete base and reinstate the pavers to bring the area to the original aesthetics. 
8.2 Clean up the work area and remove any construction debris and make good any trades that may defective before handing over the works
