Description of the Assignment: 


Bringing multiple key actors around the table, supported by the United Nations, it is intended that greater awareness is built and investments are made, while innovative approaches and robust partnerships are developed.


Objectives:

  1. To strengthen the capacity of the Diocesan Team of 60 people to be able to recognize symptoms of common and severe mental health conditions.
  2. To improve the psychosocial well-being of affected individuals through provision of mental health, psycho-social, and in-kind support by the Diocesan Mental Health Ministry team and other CSOs. 
  3. To build resilience of mental health survivors and reduce stigma associated with mental health

Scope of work:
Results
  1. Capacity building: Diocesan Health Ministry Team is knowledgeable and skilled to fulfil their role in mental health and psychosocial support.
  2. Psycho-social service provision: Mental health, psychosocial support and in-kind support received by target population.
  3. Reduced stigma: Target population achieves and sustains reduced stigma.
Major Tasks
  1. Conduct workshops: To train Diocesan Health Ministry Team
  2.  Community visits: To Provide mental, psycho-social and in-kind support to affected families and individuals.
  3. Trainings: stigma prevention
  4. Conduct community outreach/engagement 
  5. Develop mental health support clubs in schools
  6. Organize spiritual retreats
  7. Database development
Activities
  1. Conduct workshops for the Mental Health Ministry Team with the view to capacitate the team and develop their skills on the provision of Mental Health first aid.
  2. Facilitate the establishment of a national multi-stakeholder coordination platform and network for MHPSS to promote a collective strategy, awareness-raising and experience-sharing,
  3. Creation and development of mental health awareness clubs in at least 13 high schools and in 2 health Institutions.
  4. The Diocese will visit individuals and families affected by malnutrition, providing psychosocial and in-kind support.
  5. Support the creation of alternative spaces of engagements, regular counselling, dialogue between victim groups, with practitioners, thematic seminars, sporting activities, retreats etc.) to promote healing and positive attitudes including women-led seminars and monthly social gathering.  These will be held at the Catholic Centre, Manzini.
  6. Conducting/supporting training on stigma prevention skills.
  7.  Provision of paralegal advice to survivors/victims.
The ideal candidate is expected to subscribe to the below minimum requirements
Qualifications and Experience 
  • Master’s degree in a health-related science, public health or any field related to the functions of the post from a recognized university.
Professional Experience: 
  • Minimum 3 years working experience, preferably in a Catholic Institution.
  • Exposure to working in a Catholic Institution.
  • Knowledge/ previous experience in coordination of projects.
  • Knowledge/ previous experience in facilitation of workshops and trainings.
  • Working experience in community health in Eswatini communities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, liaise with people and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Good English language oral and writing skills
  • Good organizational and analytical skills
  • Flexible work attitude: ability to work with a team and independently.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications such as Microsoft office Word, Excel and Power point. 
  • Emotional intelligence: Ability to identify and manage one’s own emotions as well as helping others do the same.

Period of assignment/services: 6 months
