Introduction

Under the overall guidance of the DPI Engagement Specialist, the consultant will be responsible for the following deliverables:

 Output 1 (Inception Report): Support the drafting and submission of an inception report for the initiative to ensure that all work for the project aligns with the overall objective. The report will provide the project overview and background context, the agenda for the landscaping study, detailed methodology and approach, a timeline for project activities, risk assessment and mitigation plan, as well as project objectives and expected outcomes. (Estimated level of effort: 5 days)

 Output 2 (Draft Landscaping Study Report): Undertake research and analysis and contribute to the development and submission of a draft landscaping study that summarizes the initiative’s findings, recommendations, and next steps for developing DPI for specified use cases. This study will be targeted towards policymakers, planet activists and other stakeholders who are interested in the intersection between DPI and the planetary crisis stemming from climate change and biodiversity loss. Help coordinate the research process and study development with members of the project team, which may include scoping, desk review, data analysis, interviews, workshop facilitation and presentation, ‘Green DPI’ roadmap development for specified use cases and revising them based on feedback from peer reviews and validation exercises. (Estimated level of effort: 45 days)

 Output 3 (Final Landscaping Study Report and Highlights Package for COP 29): Help revise, finalize and submit the landscaping study and a highlights package for COP 29 (PPT slides / summary paper). Support the development of launch materials in coordination with the project team as appropriate. Provide input to briefing papers and talking points as requested. (Estimated level of effort: 20 days).
