Introduction
SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF EQUIPMENT (PLASTIC SHREDDER) IN SAMAL ISLAND
A. Project Title
Ending Plastic Pollution Innovation Challenge (EPPIC)
B. Project Description
The project Ending Plastic Pollution Innovation Challenge (EPPIC) seeks to reduce plastic pollution in coastal areas in Viet Nam and Thailand in 2020, followed by Indonesia and the Philippines in 2021, and Cambodia and Lao PDR in 2023, contributing to the achievement of SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and SDG 12 (Responsible Production and Consumption). EPPIC is a competition that will source innovative ideas from ASEAN countries for tackling local plastic challenges to contribute to widespread system-level change across the entire region.
The EPPIC in Indonesia and the Philippines (Phase II) has officially launched in January 2021. For EPPIC in the Philippines, the challenge site chosen is the Island Garden City of Samal in Davao del Norte. For 2023, EPPIC in the Philippines focuses on the implementation of a set of activities under Outcome 3 (Plastic ecosystem (legal, financial, technical) in Viet Nam and ASEAN, to ensure long-term sustainability, stimulated) and Outcome 4 (A Portfolio of innovative solutions is selected, supported and scaled up through the EPPIC competition in Viet Nam, Philippines, and 2 additional ASEAN countries) with the outputs, namely:
OUTPUT 3.1.1: Technical support to the government for the Philippines’ position on UN Plastic Treaty
OUTPUT 4.2.1: Establishment/development of mobile-based database application for marine litter through citizen science
OUTPUT 4.2.2: Piloting of downstream solution to two existing sites in Samal Island and upscaling in adjacent areas
C. Objective and Scope of Work
In line with Output 4.2.2, the Project will be providing the Island Garden City of Samal with equipment (one set) to supplement its efforts in implementing downstream solutions for solid waste management and circular economy.
The equipment will be delivered, assembled, and installed in the Island Garden City of Samal in Davao del Norte. The Contractor must supply equipment, assemble, install, test and commission, and provide training for the operation and maintenance of the equipment.
