The Famagusta fortifications is a massive complex of military architecture. The project area in particular, has preserved its authenticity to this day as it was not affected during the Ottoman siege. The area selected for the Diamante Bastion project includes unique sections of the fortifications of Famagusta, where intact structures from the Lusignan period can be identified. Some of these areas are in a bad state of preservation and in need of immediate and special attention. This site bears witness to its long history and provides valuable evidence of the multifaceted aspects of each phase, such as building techniques, military warfare, historic events.The design of an intervention scheme for the repair, consolidation, and conservation of this complex monument requires the involvement of an expert specialized in fortifications from similar eras. This expert would advise in identifying the functions, techniques, and particularities of each section of the site, ensuring that valuable evidence is not lost.
