Introduction
Operationalizing AI Governance in Asia-Pacific
The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming public services, economies, and governance frameworks worldwide. Across the Asia-Pacific region, governments are deploying AI in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, and public administration to improve service delivery, efficiency, and transparency. However, the adoption of AI brings challenges related to fairness, transparency, accountability, and inclusivity, which can undermine trust and create risks if not addressed through appropriate governance frameworks.
AI governance involves setting principles, frameworks, and mechanisms to ensure that AI is used responsibly, ethically, and sustainably. Yet, while global discussions on AI ethics and responsible governance are advancing, translating these principles into actionable practices remains a key challenge, especially for countries with diverse socio-economic and technological capacities.
Objective;
The broader objective of this assignment is to understand how best to operationalize AI governance frameworks and how high-level principles can be turned into practical tools and methodologies that are context specific.
Please refer to the TOR for details.
