Introduction
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) supports Jordan to achieve sustainable development that leads to transformational change, bringing about real improvements in people’s lives, through the design and implementation of policy and programming to address the development challenges that affect the country, aligning local demand driven development solutions to the 2030 Agenda
The UN provided intermittent electoral assistance to the IEC between 2012 and 2024 through UNDP with an extensive experience in extending support to IEC since its establishment demonstrating successful track record in supporting sustainability of its project activities in Jordan and relevant lessons that were captured. IEC has a positive evaluation of the partnership with UNDP and the contributions made.
Against this background, and in accordance with ICCPR GC 25, para. 11: “Voter education and registration campaigns are necessary to ensure the effective exercise of article 25 rights by an informed community.” And as Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs) need to inform, educate and persuade the public to exercise their right to vote – or be voted, UNDP Jordan is seeking to hire a capacity-building entity to support reinforcing voter and potential voters’ education efforts. The Communications Department within IEC will be supported in developing long-term impactful awareness programmes, through AI tools. Moreover, its team will be trained to use efficiently such tools, supporting IEC to reinforce its voter education efforts.
AI solutions will be used to enhance IEC communication strategies and optimize IEC social media presence.
