Introduction
Country: Jamaica
Description of the Assignment: The purpose of this consultancy is to enable the UNDP Jamaica office, through support received under the NDC Partnership Fund, to support the Forestry Department of Jamaica in strengthening its Forest Management efforts. Specifically, in expanding the organisation’s capacity to utilise LiDAR technology for LULC assessments. To this end, UNDP seeks to engage an experienced firm to (1) acquire an advanced Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) – VTOL unit and sensor equipped with RGB, multispectral imagery and LiDAR technology and (2) conduct the related capacity strengthening in LiDAR spectral analysis and GIS web development. This cutting-edge solution will revolutionize forest estate management, from estimating biomass to monitoring biodiversity and tracking pests and diseases.
Period of Assignment/services: January 2025 - July 2025
