Introduction
The assignment aims to provide technical support for developing a biodiversity study and an environmental and social monitoring program for restoring the Sateska River and redirecting it to its natural riverbed. The study will supplement existing EIA and ESIA reports, offering a comprehensive update on the biodiversity and ecosystem values of the impacted area. The study should address relevant impacts on physical, biological, and socioeconomic resources, including direct, indirect, cumulative, and induced impacts in the Sateska restoration project of influence, that are not assessed in the EIA Study and/or other relevant assessments and studies for this region. This shall ensure accurate and complete evaluation of the specific mitigation, monitoring, and capacity development measures in compliance with the UNDP SES. Through a participatory process, the company will also develop a monitoring program, identifying key areas and indicators to assess the effects of the restoration activities that will be shared with the Government for their consideration and incorporation in relevant programmes/plans/budget.
The consulting company is expected to complement desk work with a rapid field assessment to identify key issues following the completion of construction works. Experts are expected also to participate in presenting and discussing findings and recommendations with key stakeholders at various stages in coordination with the project team.
