Purpose:
The construction component of the project titled “Enhancing Integrated Water Management and Climate Resilience in Vulnerable Urban Areas of the Mekong River Basin” aims to bolster the climate and disaster resilience of communities in the Xe Bang Fai and Xe Don river catchment areas in Lao PDR. By integrating sustainable construction methods, this initiative seeks to enhance water resource management and ensure long-term benefits for the local population. The construction activities are crucial for delivering tangible results in line with the project's broader objectives of risk reduction and climate adaptation.
Key Construction Activities:
· Develop a reliable and sustainable water source for each village include rigorous testing to confirm water quality and capacity, ensuring long-term usability.
· A robust raised water tank featuring a steel structure on a concrete footing will be constructed per village.
· Six solar lamps will be installed per village.
Scope of work:
The scope of work of this request for quotation is to:
1. Borehole Drilling, Sealing, and Testing per village
This project involves the comprehensive development of a borehole, which includes drilling, sealing, and testing services. The borehole will be expertly drilled to ensure a sustainable and reliable water source. The sealing process will prevent contamination, ensuring that the water remains safe for use. Finally, rigorous testing will be conducted to verify the quality and capacity of the borehole, providing peace of mind and assurance of long-term usability.
2. Raised Water Tank (Steel Structure on Concrete Footing) per village
A robust raised water tank will be constructed, featuring a durable steel structure mounted on a concrete footing. This design ensures stability and longevity, capable of withstanding various environmental conditions. The elevated position of the tank will facilitate efficient water distribution, leveraging gravity to deliver water where it is needed. This component of the project is essential for maintaining a consistent and reliable water supply.
3. Installing the Solar Lamps (6 Units) per village
The installation includes six solar lamps, providing eco-friendly and cost-effective lighting solutions. These solar lamps harness solar energy to illuminate the area, reducing dependence on traditional power sources and lowering electricity costs. The solar lamps are strategically placed to enhance visibility and safety during nighttime, contributing to a sustainable and environmentally conscious infrastructure project.
