Introduction

Development of Communication Campaign for a Regional Workshop in Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka.

The JURE project has already made significant strides in reforming key legal policies, providing legal aid to vulnerable communities across the country, digitizing and improving the infrastructure of justice sector institutions, enhancing the knowledge of thousands of justice sector personnel, enhancing public awareness of laws and rights, and much more. Further information about the project can be viewed at https://www.undp.org/srilanka/projects/support-justice-sector-jure

A two-day regional workshop is planned to be conducted in Anuradhapura in May 2025. It will serve to increase public awareness and understanding of justice sector services provided by government entities (GEs). The event will focus on vulnerable groups, such as children, women, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and members of the LGBTIQ community. An intersectional lens will be adopted to address the compounding issues faced by these groups. This regional workshop will begin with its first phase in Anuradhapura, focusing on the local community. Upon completion of this phase and based on its outcomes, a decision will be made regarding the continuation of the initiative.
