PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Project “Integrated Community-based Management of High-Value Mountain Ecosystems in Southern Kyrgyzstan for Multiple Benefits” addresses critical challenges such as biodiversity loss, land degradation, and climate change impacts in the ecologically significant Pamir-Alai region. The project focuses on implementing integrated natural resource management to conserve biodiversity, restore degraded landscapes, and ensure sustainable livelihoods for local communities.

A significant focus is on the legal establishment of protected areas, requiring resolution of complex land ownership issues and adherence to national legal frameworks. For this purpose, UNDP will engage a National Consultant who will provide legal support and oversee the process of establishing four new Protected Areas (PAs) in the Pamir-Alai region.

Проект нацелен на внедрение интегрированного управления природными ресурсами для сохранения биоразнообразия, восстановления деградированных ландшафтов и обеспечения устойчивых средств к существованию для местных сообществ. Одним из ключевых направлений является юридическое создание ООПТ, что требует решения сложных вопросов землевладения и соблюдения национальных правовых норм. Для этого ПРООН привлечет Национального Консультанта, который будет оказывать юридическую поддержку и сопровождать процесс создания четырех новых ООПТ в Памир-Алайском регионе.
