Scope of Work (S.O.W.)

Full Rehabilitation of Irrigation Systems and Drainage Pipeline in the College of Agriculture in Anbar University - Stage II

Ramadi - Anbar 

Name of project: Full Rehabilitation of Irrigation Systems and Drainage Pipeline in the College of Agriculture in Anbar University

Targeting:

The aim of the project is to supply, excavate, lay, connect and test  drainage pipeline which will be used to drain the groundwater from the determined area in this project inside the college of agriculture. In addition to construct irrigation systems to cover agricultural fields with an area of not less than  47,000 m2 inside the college. The project will serve about 1,600 students and researchers.

This project will serve the infrastructure of the college in general and treat its destroyed agricultural fields during the last conflict of the high groundwater problems and its great damage to arable soils. Irrigation systems that will be constructed for the determined agricultural fields will serve all researchers from the college students, especially the graduation projects for the fourth stage students for all the seven departments of the college. It will also mainly serve the projects and thesis of master's and doctoral students, as well as the training programs carried out by the College of Agriculture for farmers, those interested in the agricultural sector, agricultural field experiments and agricultural engineering consultancy.

This project belongs to Anbar University -  College of Agriculture, this project is located in Ramadi city. It is one of the important project in college of agriculture as it will help improving the services provided by the end user to all college students.

The project includes the following:

A: Site Preparation

Site preparation work includes; cleaning the existing soil for the areas grounds targeted by the project, removing the weeds, debris, and any other objectionable material of any kind which would interfere with the performance or completion of the work, cutting the high areas and filling the low areas by the clean soil extracted from the cutting works. leveling the targeted areas prior to spread the new clean soil, cleaning the existing excavated abandoned drainage channel (Drainage Ditch) in the project and its shoulders of 150 m length, 6 m width and its depth not less than 3.5 m using a long reach excavator with removing all putrid soil, with continuous and non-stop dewatering the surface and ground water throughout the period of cleaning and backfilling the drainage ditch. Backfilling this ditch up to the existing ground level using the clean soil resulting from the excavation works of the drainage UPVC pipe for draining groundwater of 630 mm diameter with complete the rest of the backfilling if this soil is not sufficient using new clean with well compaction. Removing all debris and mentioned materials in this item from the site to a dumpsite approved by the relevant authority according to supervisory committee directions.

Spreading and leveling new clean, blended and screened loam soil in addition to free of impurities and salts for all targeted areas.

Installing the temporary and permanent signs for the project according to the required specification and dimensions.

B: Civil Works

The work includes; excavating at a depth of (8 - 8.5) m approved by the engineering committee for the collection basin area. Supporting the excavation sides to Prevent soil collapse when excavation works to reach the required depth according to the engineering committee directions by either making a slope not less than (1:3) for the excavation sides, or making a support by thick steel plates mold and suitable size of steel H sections with hammering of these sections using a hydraulic hammer down to the required depth or any other methods determined by the engineering committee (All required works and quantities for the methods to support the excavation sides will not be calculated within the quantity of this item but they are within the work requirements and price of this item). Dewatering the underground water continuously and without stopping on a daily basis (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) by making the groundwater flow towards the drain channel, in addition to the use of diesel trash pumps, sewage submersible pumps of suitable capacities with all their accessories and required works which should be supplied and installed by the contractor or any method determined by supervisory engineering committee so that the groundwater is completely controlled until the completion of all construction of the collection basin works and the works of the main discharge pipe, cleaning, leveling and well compaction the bed of the excavation using heavy construction equipment. Backfilling the surrounding areas of the collection basin after completing the constructions works up to the existing ground level using the clean soil resulting from the excavation works of the collection basin with complete the rest of the backfilling if this soil is not sufficient using new clean, blended and screened loam soil which should be provided and spread by the contractor with well compaction and leveling of the work area according to the supervisory committee directions. Removing all debris and mentioned materials in this item from the site to a dump site approved by the relevant authority.

Cleaning and excavating the existing drainage channel of L:35 and D: not less than 4.5 and W:12 m so that its new depth not less than 9.5 m and its width not less than 12 m, removing all excavation material to a site approved by local authorities, repairing this channel continuously throughout its use in draining water, dewatering the underground water continuously and without stopping on a daily basis so that the groundwater is completely controlled until the completion of all construction of concrete collection basin works, backfilling this drainage channel  with a new clean, blended and screened Loam soil in addition to free of impurities and salts up to the existing ground level in layers with well compaction completion of all construction of collection basin and the main discharge pipe works.

Spreading and paving solid stone layer of class B and big size regularly under the concrete collection basin of the main discharge pipe which will be used to drain the ground water of the project. Spreading fitter layer which consist of solid black gravel layer of big size (3- 8) inch size and 30 cm thick of the layer to fill the gaps and spaces between the stones. Filling two layers with sub-base under the concrete collection basin with well compaction. Laying a thick nylon layer prior to cast sulphate resistant plain concrete of 10 cm thick (Blinding) under the concrete basin as per attached drawings. Casting fair faced reinforced concrete for the base, walls and roof of the water concrete basin of the main discharge pipe (collection basin) of (L:8 x W:8 x H:6.4) m dimensions, 40 cm base thick, 30 cm for walls and 25 cm for roof thick and (30 x 50) cm for drop beams. Casting the trench of pipelines path for areas where asphalt pavement layers have been removed. Covering all the external walls of existing three water concrete basins for irrigation systems with layer of self-adhesive aluminum foil bitumen waterproof membrane “Iso cam” of 6 mm thick which made of polyester, thermal cloth, sand-free fiberglass, bitumen layer and aluminum foil layer for the membrane's upper surface. Coating all the internal walls and floor of the existing three concrete basins with three layers of nontoxic epoxy paint (food epoxy). Filling sub -base layers with making well slope not less than (1/2) for the ends of sub-base layers which should be spread under the concrete pumps bases and to be covered the existing three concrete basins bases up to the required levels. Casting concrete reinforced with BRC layers for the pump bases which will be distributed as per attached drawings and according to the required specification. Installing a metal sun-shade for the pumps and installing a steel ladder which should be installed on the concrete basins from outside and inside.

C: Electrical Works

Electrical works include; supplying and installing motor starter board for submersible pump of 12.5kW waterproofed prefabricated metal motor starter board for submersible pumps of suitable dimensions made of steel plate of 2mm thickness and double doors as per the required specification. Motor starter board for centrifugal horizontal pump of 11kW, motor starter board for centrifugal horizontal pump of 30kW, motor starter board for centrifugal horizontal pump of 3kW, as per the required specification mentioned in the BOQ.

Installing cables as per the required sizes and lengths for electrical connection according to the required specification. Installing galvanized cable tray which should be installed between distribution boards and pumps. Connecting the existing ABC cable of (3*95+50+16) mm² with the electrical power source inside the collage to feed the electrical network of the pumps of the project, installing earth system.

D: Mechanical Works

Mechanical works include;

D1: Draining groundwater by a perforated pipe with a gravel filter around it.

Installing and connecting UPVC pipe of 630 mm diameter, 6 bar atmospheric pressure to drain the groundwater from the area determined in attached drawings with all required works. Casting reinforced concrete for the manhole, supplying and installing cast iron cover of 600 x 900 mm dimensions which is used for the valves of (L: 1.5 x W: 2.0 x D: 1.0) m inside dimensions as shown in attached drawings which should be casted beside the ground drainage concrete basin (collection basin), casting fair faced reinforced concrete for the circular manholes with all required works.

Installing and connecting submersible pump of Q:100m3/hr., H:20m, to be installed in the floor of drainage concrete basin, connecting it with the galvanized and UPVC pipes to drain the water from the ground concrete basin to the discharge channel located across the street at the back of the college with all required works. Installing and connecting mechanical valves, check valves and other accessories according to the required specification, galvanized water pipes of DN150 mm dimeter,7.11 mm wall thickness which using to connect the submersible pump with UPVC pipes, UPVC pipe of 250mm diameter, and 10 bar atmospheric pressure 11.90mm wall thickness with rubber waterproof gaskets which should be used to connect the submersible pumps existing in the ground drainage concrete basin with the discharge channel located across the street at the back of the college as per attached drawings.

D2: Sprinkler Irrigation System for Area A

Installing and connecting centrifugal horizontal pump of (Q:80 m3/hr. x H:45 m) capacity with all required fittings and accessories as per the required specification, installing the required mechanical fittings to connect the pumps with pipes and sprinkler system, butterfly valves, flexible joints, strainer with stainless steel screen, double regulation balancing valves, galvanized water pipes according to the required specification, which should be subjected to ASTM A53 GR-B SCHEDULE- 40 specifications for hot dipped galvanized steel pipes as per required specification and lengths. Installing and connecting high quality polyethylene tubes of 10 bar atmospheric pressure according to the required diameters to be used for the sprinkler net in the areas determined in attached drawings, high quality water impact sprinkler head with its pipe of 120 cm height according to the required specification.

D3: Sprinkler Irrigation System for Area B 

Installing and connecting single stage monobloc centrifugal electric pump with horizontal shaft and  mechanical seal of (Q:45m3/hr. x H:40 m) capacity with all required fittings and accessories, installing the required mechanical fittings to connect the pumps with pipes and sprinkler system, butterfly valves, flexible joints, strainer with stainless steel screen, double regulation balancing valves, galvanized water pipes according to the required specification, which should be subjected to ASTM A53 GR-B SCHEDULE- 40 specifications for hot dipped galvanized steel pipes as per required specification and lengths. Installing and connecting high quality polyethylene tubes of 10 bar atmospheric pressure according to the required diameters to be used for the sprinkler net in the areas determined in attached drawings, high quality water impact sprinkler head with its pipe of 120 cm height according to the required specification.

D4: Drip Irrigation System for Area A

Installing and connecting single stage monobloc centrifugal electric pump with horizontal shaft and  mechanical seal of (Q:25m3/hr.x H:20m) capacity with all required fittings and accessories, installing the required mechanical fittings to connect the pumps with pipes and drip irrigation system, butterfly valves, flexible joints, strainer with stainless steel screen, double regulation balancing valves, galvanized water pipes according to the required specification, which should be subjected to ASTM A53 GR-B SCHEDULE- 40 specifications for hot dipped galvanized steel pipes as per required specification and lengths. Installing and connecting high quality polyethylene tubes of 10 bar atmospheric pressure according to the required diameters to be used for the drip nets in the areas determined in attached drawings, high quality water adjustable dripper head of pressure 0.5 bar, max flow rate 0.04 m3/h according to the required specification.

D5: Drip Irrigation System for Area B

Installing and connecting centrifugal horizontal  pump of (Q:80m3/hr.x H:25 m) capacity with all required fittings and accessories, installing the required mechanical fittings to connect the pumps with pipes and drip irrigation system, butterfly valves, flexible joints, strainer with stainless steel screen, double regulation balancing valves, galvanized water pipes according to the required specification, which should be subjected to ASTM A53 GR-B SCHEDULE- 40 specifications for hot dipped galvanized steel pipes as per required specification and lengths. Installing and connecting high quality polyethylene tubes of 10 bar atmospheric pressure according to the required diameters to be used for the drip nets in the areas determined in attached drawings, high quality water adjustable dripper head of pressure 0.5 bar, max flow rate 0.04 m3/h according to the required specification.

D6: Drip Irrigation System for Area C

Installing and connecting centrifugal horizontal  pump of (Q:10m3/hr.x H:20 m) capacity with all required fittings and accessories, installing the required mechanical fittings to connect the pumps with pipes and drip irrigation system, butterfly valves, flexible joints, strainer with stainless steel screen, double regulation balancing valves, galvanized water pipes according to the required specification, which should be subjected to ASTM A53 GR-B SCHEDULE- 40 specifications for hot dipped galvanized steel pipes as per required specification and lengths. Installing and connecting high quality polyethylene tubes of 10 bar atmospheric pressure according to the required diameters to be used for the drip nets in the areas determined in attached drawings, high quality water adjustable dripper head of pressure 0.5 bar, max flow rate 0.04 m3/h according to the required specification.

D7: Cleaning, Test, Commissioning and Balancing for the Irrigation Systems Nets and its Accessories

Testing all the irrigation systems nets in the project after completing all installing and connecting nets parts under pressure (1.5 x designed pressure) bar for 24 hours by a specialized technical and engineering staff, cleaning the irrigation systems nets after installing and connecting the pumps and nets parts by pumping the water by the installed pumps in the nets so that the end pipes of the nets should be opened, making balancing by specialized technical and engineering staff for all the irrigation systems nets parts and accessories in the project.

D8: Supplying, Installing and Connecting Main Pipeline and Pumping Pumps

Installing and connecting UPVC pipe of 110mm diameter as per the required specification with all fittings and accessories to connect between the galvanized pipes of main pumping pumps and the main water source pipe that feeds the college. Casting reinforced concrete for the manhole with supplying and installing cast iron cover of 600 x 900 mm dimensions which is used for the valves of (L: 1.5 x W:2.0 x D: 1) m inside dimensions as shown in attached drawings, installing and connecting centrifugal horizontal pump of (Q:35 m3/hr. x H:40 m) capacity with all required fittings and accessories. Installing and connecting the required mechanical fittings to connect the pumps with pipes and concrete basins, galvanized water pipes according to details shown below, for install (supply water pumps, over flow, inlet water and drain pipe for concrete store tank which should be subjected to ASTM A53 GR-B SCHEDULE- 40 specifications for hot dipped galvanized steel pipes.
