Introduction
UNDP is working closely with cities and local governments to showcase how they are actively contributing to implement Agenda 2030, accelerating transformative action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals for all, and everywhere.
AgriBOOST, one of the winning initiatives of the 2021 Global Mayors Challenge, is an agri-ecosystem innovation that enhances farmer capacities and catalyzes market forces for a sustainable, food-secure and vibrant local community. AgriBOOST provides local farmers with information about food demand and business owners with a reliable, high-quality, and affordable supply of fresh vegetables. AgriBOOST has four components – AgriBloom, AgriMart, AgriHub and AgriBOOST Comms.
AgriBloom aims to increase local farmers’ average monthly income and available sufficient, quality, sustainably produced and reasonably priced vegetables in the local market by increasing local vegetable production through technological innovation. AgriBloom provides extension service, technology demonstrations, and farm school trainings to farmers to expose them to best practices and innovative technologies on vegetable production; thus, strengthening their capacity to produce and earn more, and bolster their competitiveness
AgriHub is the “purchasing, processing and marketing station” of the AgriBOOST project. The AgriHub purchases vegetables from farmers at fair and competitive prices, processes these vegetables to ensure freshness and quality is maintained, and dispatches these vegetables through pre-agreed market channels; thus, effectively making fresh and locally sourced vegetables accessible to consumers at lower prices. The AgriHub is managed, operated and maintained by the AgriHub operator, Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, Inc., and overseen by the City Government of Butuan (CGB) which provides capacity development, infrastructure, equipment, and technology support to enable the operator to effectively and efficiently manage, operate, and maintain the AgriHub.
AgriMart aims to revitalize trading partners and improve consumer touchpoints for easier and improved consumer experience. AgriMart empowers trade partners by providing planning tools, stimulus packages, marketing and promotion support, and modernized approach to quality handling and packaging through training and capacity development.
UNDP is seeking to engage a provider to supply and delivery one (1) unit hauling truck for the AgriBOOST project in Butuan City, Philippines.
