Description of the Assignment:  

Objective: The initial objectives of this assignment are:

Support through the office of the Attorney General, Bangladesh’s prosecution team, on behalf of the UN, to advise them on documentation and assist with that. The incumbent will assist the prosecution with legal research, open-source documentation and maintaining information records. The incumbent will be expected to have a good understanding of human rights fact-finding methodology and as well human rights documentation. The incumbent should have a flexible approach and should be willing to adapt to the situation. The work may entail traveling outside of Dhaka.

Scope of work: Under this assignment, the consultant will provide deliverable work to achieve the following tasks:

·        Collect data and documents on enforced disappearances, other serious human rights crimes chronologically and preserve them systematically accessible to the prosecution team. Maintain the data in Excel sheets, do tabulation, and prepare reports as required.

·        Assist with transcribing interviews and oral submissions made by the families of victims and witnesses.

·        Conduct open-source research as well as witness interviews, support corroboration, maintain records

·        Maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality and approach the work without any bias.

·        Advise the prosecution on human rights standards including through preparing briefs and organizing learning sessions.

·        Be ready to learn new techniques and methods.

 

Period of assignment/services: 80 working days over a period of 5 months
