Brief Background:
The Solar Facility Project in Mongolia aims to transition households in Ulaanbaatar’s Ger districts from coal-based heating to renewable energy, addressing severe air pollution and its associated health and economic impacts. The project will identify and optimize suitable technical solutions for solar PV systems, battery storage, and smart nano grids to drive the shift to clean energy. Additionally, it will create an enabling environment for renewable energy investments, unlock financial instruments for solar energy deployment, reduce risks for private sector participation, and ensure the financial viability of solar energy solutions. The project also prioritizes social equity and gender empowerment.
