| Introduction :
UNDP is implementing the project “Reduction and elimination of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and other chemical releases through the implementation of environmentally sound management of E-Waste, healthcare waste and priority Unintentional POPs release sources associated with general waste management activities” in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and other stakeholders, The project aims to avoid the releases of Unintentional POPs, Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and CO2, contributing at the same time to the development of the waste circular economy elements based on the 3R (Reduce, Re-use, Recycle) approach principles. Within this project, municipal solid waste will be diverted to the production of energy, by processing collected materials of plastics, cardboard, fabric and paper to produce refuse derived fuel (RDF) to be used in cement factories incinerators. Within this project, the UNDP is looking for a qualified company to fabricate the necessary machinery to process the collected material and provide solid RDF of the required size and physical characteristics.
This Contract will serve the establishment of an RDF processing facility through the fabrication of machinery that will change the physical attributes of collected waste that have high calorific value (fabric, plastics of all types, paper, cardboard) and can be used as an RDF at cement factories based on its physical and chemical characteristics. The contractor shall ensure that all types and sizes of plastics, paper, and cardboard that are normally found in the municipal waste collection bins could be processed through this line of machinery. The Contractor shall provide a clear operations and maintenance manual in both English and Arabic.
