Description of the Assignment: 


Following endorsement from the country’s highest authority the Ministry of Natural resources working with the multi stakeholder task team has been tasked to come up with revised policy taking into consideration the current context, traditional authorities and all relevant considerations that will ensure a rights-based approach to land management in the Kingdome of Eswatini. To this end, through UNDP support the Ministry seeks to engage a consultant that will support the process.

Given the significance of this assignment , it is expected that the consultant working with the task team and relevant authorities will support the effective development of the policy and advise on relevant steps necessary for its effective implementation


The ideal candidate should have but not limited to the below required qualifications:

  • This consultant should have at least 5- 10 years of working experience in either Policy formulation, human rights , land governance or natural resource and  environmental issues .
  • An advanced degree in a field relevant to the above assignment (natural resource management, environmental policy, agriculture and land management, Law)
  • Good working knowledge of national policy processes and land policy language. 
  • Knowledgeable of land tenure and management issues in Eswatini.
  • Familiarity with community-based land-use governance and natural resource management and socio-cultural land management issues in Eswatini
  • Good understanding of international policies and agreements related to sustainable land management.
  • Ability to organize and facilitate workshops and meetings   

    ·    Period of assignment/services:120 Days within 12 Months
