Introduction
Scope of the tender
UNDP is seeking the support of a Firm registered in Guyana with a team of Technical Specialists, to support the revision and updating of Guyana’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) and the preparation of the 7th National Report (7NR) in alignment with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). The consultancy team will address critical gaps in biodiversity governance by conducting comprehensive assessments, providing actionable recommendations, and aligning policies and strategies with national and international biodiversity goals. The consultancy team will aim to create an enabling environment for effective biodiversity conservation and sustainable use, with a focus on coherence, institutional effectiveness, and stakeholder collaboration.
The consultancy team is expected to work closely with a core group of biodiversity stakeholders, who were identified to support the EAS project activities. This stakeholder group is expected to continue its support to the national NBSAP preparation process and is a coalition of representatives from key government agencies, civil society groups and other relevant stakeholders. The Biodiversity Core Group will provide guidance during the consultancy’s execution and support information sharing as well as review draft products. It will be important for the consultancy to incorporate the perspectives, feedback, and recommendations from this group regarding the NBSAP's effectiveness, relevance, priorities, opportunities and challenges for the whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach to the NBSAP update process and even regarding risks and challenges for implementation of the NBSAP.
