Introduction
The objective of this assignment is to evaluate sustainable alternatives for managing wood sector waste, focusing on identifying and assessing viable options for the utilization of wood residues from the timber processing industry. Together with the private sector, potential value chains including biomass power generation, biochar production, and wood-based product manufacturing, will be assessed. The assignment will involve a detailed review of technical feasibility, resource availability, cost-benefit analysis, environmental impact, and market opportunities of these value chains. Ideally the existing value chains or the identified ideas for value chains using wood waste can be strengthened through the grant program within the ASL2 project. Together with the forestry economic expert, this expert will provide technical support for the development of these business plans and support the technical and successful implementation.
