Introduction

Supply of an off the shelf e-Learning Management System platform

The UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund’s support to Sri Lanka during and post Covid-19 pandemic looks at ‘Support to Strengthen the Health System’s Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic in Sri Lanka’. Output 2 of UNDP’s component of this support looks at Strengthening the 1990 Suwaseriya Ambulance Service who are at the forefront of emergency response in the country. Activity 3 of this Output is aimed at Suwaseriya’s on-call cadre being trained to support the safe and efficient transfer of patients following do no harm principles.

After reviewing the current training processes and materials to understand gaps and areas for improvement it was proposed to introduce an online learning platform for the Suwa Seriya staff given the challenges identified on conducting physical trainings especially during pandemic situations.

OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE OF INTERVENTION

The 1990 Suwaseriya Ambulance Service currently conducts induction and routine trainings with physical attendance of the participants. It is a mandatory requirement to keep all the service personnel up-to-date with knowledge and with the current health precautions it makes it difficult to conduct physical learning and development activities as usual. Hence, this project aims to  procure an off the shelf e-learning management system along with appropriate tools to conduct remote learning and development activities for 1990 Suwaseriya Ambulance Service personnel.
