Nigeria is Africa’s largest economy and is host to the largest population of young people in Africa. In recognition of the transformative potential of Nigeria’s development for the whole of Africa, UNDP Nigeria continues to actively explore novel pathways to catalyze inclusive growth and sustainable development. These novel pathways require the design and implementation of initiatives that increase the capacity of national and subnational entities to address complex myriad developmental challenges.
In response to this, UNDP is deploying the Unipods Initiative across 6 Geopolitical zones to promote the capacity of states to innovate around challenges limiting their growth and development. The Unipods initiative, under the Timbuktu Project, is designed to establish innovation-themed centres in 7 universities with support from UNDP. These centers will focus on agro-tech, digital solutions, electronics, renewable energy, AI, and creative design.
